CreatBot D600 Pro 3D Printer Review

The CreatBot D600 Pro is a professional dual extruder 3D printer for industrial use. It is capable of printing large format objects with high performance materials for demanding applications. In addition to standard filaments such as PLA, ABS, PETG and Nylon, you can also use a wide variety of other materials such as: Wood, Flexible, PC, PP, TPU, HIPS, PVA, carbon fiber blends, PEEK and many more.

Large, fully enclosed build envelope

Despite its compact external dimensions (910 x 840 x 1100 mm), the D600 Pro has a very large installation space of 600 x 600 x 600 mm. The steel casing not only ensures stability and solid vibration-free printing, but also extends the printer’s service life. The main advantage of a closed installation space is the constant temperature inside the printing chamber. It prevents warping and thus enables printing of sensitive materials. In addition, the solid steel jacket provides protection against external interference and allows less noise to escape to the outside. The stable and durable construction is proven by the first CreatBot series, which has been in operation for 5 years and more than 8,000 printing hours.

Nozzle temperature up to 420 ℃.

The D600 Pro is equipped with a 1.75 mm dual extruder with full metal hotends. The left extruder can be used for printing temperature up to 260°C and can print materials such as PLA, ABS, PC, Nylon, Carbon Fiber, Flexible, etc. The right extruder is made of is made of hardened steel alloy and prints high performance materials such as PEEK with a maximum temperature of 420°C. The optimized blue cooling fins cool the upper part of the extruder reliably and efficiently. The filament drive is located on the print head, ensuring reliable material transport. The height of the nozzle is adjustable. The dual hotend is replaceable, opening up further options.

High accuracy

Extensive development work and long-term experience have gone into the extruder feeder system. It is highly precise and prints with an accuracy of up to 0.05 mm. Depending on the material and print mode, the D600 Pro can print extremely fast, reaching speeds of up to 120 mm/sec. The printer comes with 0.4 mm nozzles, but nozzles with other diameters can also be used,

Servo motors with gear reduction

The closed loop control of position, speed and torque produces maximum precision. There are no step losses and thus no layer shifts. Heat and noise generation are significantly reduced.

Precise linear guides

Particularly with large-format printers, the precision of the bearings is crucial. The design of the CreatBot linear bearings produces 4 to 5 times the precision of conventional technologies over the distance to be printed.

The print chamber can be actively heated up to 70°C. A precise control loop monitors and controls the internal chamber temperature.

Touchscreen

The printer is controlled via a clear 4.3-inch touch display, with simple menu navigation in English and easy-to-understand icons. There are many useful shortcuts e.g.:preheating, homing, printing and many more.

Filament drying

High performance filaments are often sensitive to humidity from the room air and must be stored carefully. Other printers require expensive additional drying cabinets to cover this feature, with the D600 Pro the filament can be stored and dried inside the printer. The storage chamber can be set to 45° or 65° C.

HEPA air filtration

The air filtration system absorbs particles and vapors. This allows the printer to be placed in work environments without restriction.

Outage Restored & Filament Detection

Two essential features for wide format printers are filament detection and the ability to resume printing after an interruption. Long prints can sometimes last many days. A print interruption that renders a print unusable (for example, due to a filament change or power failure) costs time and materials.

The CreatBot D600 Pro constantly stores the current last positions in a buffer. In the event of a malfunction, the filament is retracted and the print bed lowered. Once the fault has been rectified, the data can be read out and printing can be completed starting from the exact last position.

BuiltTak print bed coating

The print bed can be heated up to 100°C. The print bed surface is coated with a special BuildTak sticker. The efficient vertical thermal conductivity produces a constant temperature over the entire surface. Optionally, the print bed heating can be switched off automatically after a specified number of layers.

Automatic print bed leveling

Before each print, a BL-Touch sensor measures 25 measuring points on the print bed and creates a height profile from these values. This height profile is calculated with the gcode so that the Z-distance to the print bed is always optimal. A video on the calibration process can be found in the Videos detail tab.

Software

The CreatWare slicing software is included in the scope of delivery and runs under Windows as well as on Mac and Linux operating systems. The user interface allows clear access to all parameters.

Reliably print large and complex objects

The following models were commissioned by the Cultural Monuments Protection Organization and printed on a CreatBot D600 with a 5kg spool of PLA in 80 hours without changing filament.
