Modix Introduces BIG-120Z New Large Format 3D Printer Kit

Israeli manufacturer Modix has unveiled the BIG-120Z, a new 3D printer for large-format objects. The new Modix BIG-120Z comes as a kit for self-assembly and is suitable for applications including advertising, architecture and art.
The BIG-120Z is the latest large format 3D printer from Israeli 3d printer manufacturer Modix. The BIG-120Z 3D printer has a build volume of 600 mm x 600 mm x 1,200 mm (XYZ), making it highly suitable for use in businesses to produce large-format products, such as the advertising industry, architecture or for artists. The BIG-120Z prints large format objects in one piece, which makes them stronger than objects that are assembled from individual parts. It also eliminates tedious finishing processes and reduces material costs such as waste.

The BIG-120Z large-format 3D printer is supplied as a kit for self-assembly. As a result, it costs less than comparable 3D printers, shipping is less expensive, and buyers have more flexibility in deciding the 3D printer’s preferred location in their facility. For large-format objects with similar requirements, Mimaki’s 3DGD-1800, which we featured a few weeks ago, is also suitable.

The BIG-120Z is only 2 meters high, allowing it to fit through any door. It offers a wide range of features, including 32-bit Duet3D controller, 7-inch touchscreen, leveling rollers, Wi-Fi and web access, enclosed aluminum composite panel housing and polycarbonate doors, advanced dual E3D aero extruders and dual high-flow E3D Volcano hotends.

Further included are a premium motion system with HIWIN motion rails, Gates timing belts and IGUS signal cables. The BIG-120Z resumes printing after power off, has a filament runout sensor, blockage detection and more. An active air filter device is available as an add-on. The complete BIG-120Z 3D printer costs $9,500 (about EUR 8,750) and is scheduled to begin shipping in mid-April. The BIG-120Z was first mentioned in the summer of 2019 when Modix unveiled three other large-format 3D printers. The first models will begin shipping in mid-April.
