3D Printing Essential Items for Space Travel: Zero Gravity Cocktail Project

Space travel for the masses is closer than you think and what’s a space vacation without parties?  Anyone adventurous enough to sign up for space travel is surely going to want to take their favorite cocktails with them.  But beverages behave differently without gravity.  Enter Cosmic Lifestyle Corporation.  The product design and branding company worked for 2 years to solve the liquids-in-space problem and came up with the first martini glass designed to be used in zero gravity environments.

The Zero Gravity Cocktail Project is the brainchild of founder, space tourism futurist, and visionary Samuel Coniglio.  “Space tourism is no longer a fantasy, it’s an industry,” states co-founder and bar industry entrepreneur Russell Davis. “With over 2 years of hard work, the team recognizes that there is a need for the “space tourists” to have practical applications in zero gravity that are based upon enjoyment AND functionality.”

The unique Zero Gravity design includes a base with capacity to hold the cocktail until sipped to avoid it floating away into space.  When a space adverturer wants to imbibe, a special cappilary action moves the fluid into the cool cup for drinking.   3D Printing allowed Cosmic Lifestyle to test various designs via rapid prototyping.

Next will be a mechanized “Drinkbot,” for mixing liquids in weightlessness and then seamlessly dispensing the concoction into the Zero Gravity Cocktail Glass.  We can’t wait to try it!  Oh wait, guess we’ll need to book our trip with Richard Branson first!
