RoBo 3D Printer rocks Kickstarter with $475 unit

There’s a new 3D printer on Kickstarter and this one is really on the move. As of the time of this writing it has already taken in pledges that total twice their goal amount of $49,000. And with 30 days to go, this baby is set to become to become one of the crowdfunding site’s best success stories..

The open source RoBo 3D printer is the brainchild of San Diegans Coby Kabili, Mike Pilkington and Braydon Moreno. They’ve managed to put together a large format, home printer for a price of only $520, fully assembled. You can get it in kit form for only $475.

If you’re interested, head over to their Kickstarter page and read more. Even if you aren’t going to buy one, you can send them $5 for a sticker or $25 for a t-shirt. They’ve also got a website and you can sign up for email updates there.

    Great product! Does this product also come with an inbuilt 3D scanner? If yes, that will be an added advantage.
