RSscan and Materialise Team Up to Create Customized Insoles

step4

Belgian 3D printing company Materialise has just announced the launch of a new joint venture with RSscan International, an expert in Plantar Pressure Measurement systems.

The project is called “RSPrint Powered by Materialise.” The companies have teamed up to create the world’s first dynamic 3D printed insoles that provide exceptional support and are designed to support the every move of an individual.

RSscan International uses unique technology to give accurate foot scans that not only give a proper shape of the foot, but also takes into account the pressure points and pressure distribution while walking or running.

Founder of RSscan International, Jempi Wilssens, gives a bit of background on the inspiration behind the company. “I saw the damage done when incorrect sports shoes were worn,” Wilssens said. “I first started RSscan with the goal of helping others perform to the best of their abilities, injury free, through a better understanding of their footwear needs.”

Using the technology from RSscan’s Footscan System, scans will be taken and turned into customized insoles that are designed to meet the needs of the individual’s feet. The insoles will then be prepped for 3D printing, printed, and delivered.

The finished product will be a customized 3D printed insole that offers support unlike any other insole.

The “RSPrint Powered by Materialise” will be at the exhibition of Orthopedie and Reha Technik in Leipzig from May 13 – 16, giving viewers a firsthand look at how their technology, combined with 3D printing, will make this awesome new product.
